Luxauto.lu checks all ads to protect its users, but some fraud attempts may still occur. Be cautious of offers that seem too good to be true, buyers who refuse direct contact or to view the vehicle, and never pay a deposit. Avoid cheque payments, “overpayment refunds,” and never share your banking information. If you believe an ad is suspicious, report it directly to garage@luxauto.lu.
Buying and selling a vehicle safely is possible with Luxauto.lu. Protecting our users is a top priority: all ads are verified by our automotive experts. This helps:
buyers avoid scams,
sellers filter fraudulent attempts made through the contact form.
Beware of risky situations
Even with our checks, malicious individuals may still attempt fraud. Stay alert in the following situations:
Offers that seem exceptionally attractive or “too good to be true.”
Buyers who communicate only by email and never answer the phone.
Buyers who refuse to view the vehicle before purchasing.
Payment safety tips
Never pay a deposit.
Be cautious with cash payments during weekends. If possible, check the banknotes with an ultraviolet detector.
Never accept payment by cheque, even a certified one. If the amount sent is higher than the agreed price, it is very likely a scam attempt.
Never transfer the “difference” back — the cheque may later be found to be stolen or forged.
Never share your bank details or vehicle registration document by mail, email or fax.
Important checks
Make sure that the seller’s name matches the one on the vehicle registration document and that it is not a leasing company (unless clearly stated).
